A new year and a new bible study….
I am teaching the first bible study of the year for a group of women using Renee Swope’s book, A Confident Heart, as a springboard for discussion. The beginning of the year is a good time to regroup and evaluate the state of the heart.
A heart plagued with artery clotting fears can create symptoms of wavering doubts and worry with high pain and low trust in the truth of God’s love. Healing this malady takes intentional action as does the physical heart. When there has been a clotted artery of the heart there must be procedures, medication and a life style change for healing.
Having the courage to trust the Great Physician and allowing the discomfort of uncertainty as the heart opens itself to His truth is a life-style change. Understanding the truth and presence of the living God requires an awareness and effort to seek and understand the omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent of our loving and relational God. Vulnerability stemming from a trusting faith is the prescription to heal a fearful heart.
Faith didn’t make my life less vulnerable or comfortable, it simply offered to travel with me through the uncertainty. Brene Brown PhD
To be vulnerable means to have an openness to God’s control, subjecting our life to His kingdom not to our comfort. To have confidence, it takes faith, to have faith it takes vulnerability. It is trusting that God is a God of promise, never forsaking His children for eternity.
First step to evaluating the state of the heart is to know what fears are clotting the confidence. Second, is to be willing to let go of those fears, finding security in our identity in Christ by knowing and understanding the character of God.
Confidence rests in security.
TO FIND YOUR SECURITY YOU MUST TRUST THE TRUTH OF GOD’S SECURITY.
A good resource to know the heart of God can be found at wwwreneeswope.com. Under her resource tab she has a 7 page compilation of the promises of God. Study and knowledge of His word leads us to understand the security of God.
Assimilate to understand, be Aware of God’s presences in your life with the eyes of Appreciation as you Abide in life, never ceasing to move forward always being willing to Act in love.
