“Girl Glow On….when you got it on the inside you know it!” Words of a confident person who knows their worth and value. For most of us these words do not ring true. In our hearts we often feel “unlovable”, “worthless”, “not good enough”, “powerless”, “unimportant”, the list of labels goes on and on. Labels veil the true beauty that God created us to become. Much like the Matthew West song “Hello my name Is” the labels we give ourselves become our identity as to who we think we are and will become.
We have a choice in what we accept as true about our identity and how it defines our beauty. This choice may not yet be realized….We must be intentional in our focus to unveil the essence of our God given identity and beauty.
“When a woman knows that she is loved and loved deeply, she glows from the inside. This radiance stems from a heart that has had its deepest questions answered. “Am I lovely? Am I worth fighting for? Have I been and will I continue to be romanced? When these questions are answered yes, a restful quiet spirit settles in a woman’s heart.” Captivated by John and Stasi Eldredge
The focus of these next few weeks will be a journey to discover the beauty in each one of us….Only our desire will limit us as to what we will discover.
We all spend time and energy focusing on our outward beauty, seeking the best products, methods, and trends, hoping to make the most of our physical attributes.
We have a desire to look, move and smell attractive and beautiful. We are constantly making decisions…short or long hair, highlight, color or natural, pluck or wax, stripes or solids, and then there are the accessories…it never ends!
Those external appearances of beauty can be used as a covering, a veil over how we really see ourselves, our inward perceived reality is often unconscious and hidden.
Only 4% of women describe themselves as beautiful.
20% of girls 10-19 are experiencing episodes of major depression ….Self injury among teenage girls and young women are on a dramatic rise.
Are these signs of an inwardly perceived beauty or value?
What would impede our desire to know our true beauty? This journey will require a focus to diligently open our hearts for examination to discover our hidden fears and longings that have veiled our true identity. What will we allow to control the life of our hearts? It is our choice.
The word beauty means – The qualities that give pleasure to the senses – an outstanding example of its kind
The Hebrew word for delight means – To give pleasure to or be pleasing to to receive pleasure from, to savor
Read the following scriptures with those definitions in mind:
Zephaniah 3:17
17 For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” (NLT)
John 17:13
“And now I am coming to You; I say these things while I am still in the world, so that My joy may be made full and complete and perfect in them [that they may experience My delight fulfilled in them, that My enjoyment may be perfected in their own souls, that they may have My gladness within them, filling their hearts].” (AMP)
Psalm 18:18-19
18 They confronted and came upon me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my stay and support.19 He brought me forth also into a large place; He was delivering me because He was pleased with me and delighted in me.
We are a delight to God! We give him pleasure, we are HIS children, We are Beautiful.
